Prep School Sport

Sport is an important part of life at Duke of Kent School.

Pupils in Years 3-6 have PE lessons three times a week. Extra lessons or interschool matches are also scheduled for Wednesday afternoons (Years 5 and 6) and Thursday afternoons (Years 3 and 4). These lessons are supported by a wide range of extra-curricular clubs which are run by experienced staff and passionate staff. Within the Prep School, pupils have the opportunity to build the foundations of skills, techniques, sportsmanship and competitive spirit.

Pupils have the opportunity to use the wonderful sporting facilities including the all-weather pitch,  indoor swimming pool and Sports Hall that allows all the boys and girls to develop their confidence and competence all year round.

Our 'sport for all' approach allows all boys and girls to participate in house and interschool matches in a whole range of sports. Pupils are given the coaching and advice to help them succeed to very high standards, with some pupils and teams having local, county and even (most recently in swimming, cross country and football) national success.

Matches are always well attended by the families of the participants and support is always welcome on the touchline. Competitive games are followed by a 'match tea' with the opposition, helping pupils to build their understanding of the social benefits of sport.
