Admissions
We are delighted you are considering making an application to Duke of Kent School and endeavour to make applying for places as straightforward as possible.
Our aim throughout is to ensure that boys and girls to whom we offer places are best suited to make the most of what we have to offer. We also ensure that they have both the aptitude and the attitude to thrive here.
We recommend that all prospective parents and pupils visit our School before applying, to ensure they have ample opportunity to ask questions about school, school life and the application process.
As a co-educational independent school we welcome both boys and girls. Our key entry stages are at ages 4 (Reception), 7 (Year 3), and 11 (Year 7). Places do arise from time to time for entry in other year groups. Waiting lists operate in order of registration.
Admission to our independent school at all ages is based on performance in a series of assessments or tests together with an interview with the Head, the Head of Senior School or Prep School. We use the CAT4 cognitive tests from Year 3 upwards. These computerised tests are snapshots of academic performance indicating potential. No exam preparation is required. The interview and test are of equal importance in the admissions process.
We see the admissions process as the way of finding out if our school is the right 'fit' for your child. We aim to ensure that the boys and girls admitted will thrive here, enjoying their time at Duke of Kent School and each making his or her unique contribution to our community.
If you have any questions you wish to discuss or would like to make an appointment to visit the School, please contact the Registrar, Jane Hopwood on Jhopwood@dokschool.org
