This year's Senior Production was the rock'n'roll musical 'All Shook Up', a teenage story of love, laughter and mistaken identity set in small-town fifties America, featuring the music of Elvis Presley and a witty and heart-warming book. As usual there were a large number of the Senior School involved, with over eighty pupils taking part in one way or another, rehearsing every Monday and Friday after school, as well as on four Sundays, to get the show up and ready for opening night. 

This was also the first time that we tried a double cast concept. With so many quality auditions, and a piece that lent itself to the idea, we decided to experiment and double cast the majority of the principal roles, but keep the two leads, the smaller roles and the chorus the same and put on an extra performance on the Thursday evening in order to accommodate the split. This also meant, of course, that the cast had to work even harder to keep their energy and focus for each performance - and work they did! The singing, dancing, acting and stage crew/tech work was all top class and the flavour of Elvis' brilliant music was felt in full rock'n'roll force each night. The show looked and sounded fantastic, with wonderful and professional performances from the pupils, a live band of professional musicians, wonderful costumes, staging and scenery and even a real-life motorbike on stage each show!

Each and every pupil should be incredibly proud of themselves, from the Year 7s who had never done it before to the seasoned Year 11 performers who carried and led the ensemble so well. To put on a show of this scale in only ten weeks requires commitment and effort from all involved and our amazing school community never disappoints - the audience were certainly left feeling 'All Shook Up' in the best possible way!
